We are working to transform İzmir into a region with high innovation capacity that produces technology and exports it.
The strength of a region’s economy is closely related to its productivity, growth rate, competitiveness, export volume, capital size and the quality of the workforce. In order to strengthen the regional economy in İzmir, we aim to increase efficient and high value-added production.
With this purpose, we are working to strengthen the infrastructure, human resource as well as the cooperation between public institutions, the private sector and civil society organizations. We prepare regional plans to increase innovation and technology based production, entrepreneurship as well as the export of value-added products and services, we then conduct activities in line with these plans.

İzmir Digital Transformation Centre Roadmap
It has been prepared with the aim of determining the digital maturity levels of industrial sector companies in İzmir and revealing the determinations and suggestions for the digital transformation centre to be established through in-depth analyses in the field of digital transformation.
İzmir Innovation Ecosystem Monitoring Report 2021
The “İzmir Innovation Ecosystem 2021 Monitoring Report”, which is an output of the “İzmir Innovation Monitoring System” created with the İzmir Innovation Indicators and Analysis of the Innovation Ecosystem study published by İzmir Development Agency in 2018, has been prepared by taking into account the data obtained and the changes experienced in 2021.
Start ın İzmİr Platform
We created a platform where stakeholders in the İzmir entrepreneurship ecosystem are brought together under the corporate identity of Start in İzmir and made it available at startinizmir.com.tr. The platform aims to promote the İzmir entrepreneurship ecosystem nationally and internationally and to improve the entrepreneurship environment in the region.
İzmİr Verİ Bankası
İzmir Veri Bankası is a platform where you can interactively access current economic, social and environmental data, innovation ecosystem monitoring indicators and Agency studies.
INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP ACTIVITIES
Since 2018, we have organised the GreenTech İzmir acceleration programme for entrepreneurs operating in the field of green technologies and sustainability, and since 2021, we have organised the BlueTech İzmir acceleration programme for entrepreneurs operating in the field of environmentally friendly marine technologies.
As of 2023, the Accelerate İzmir programme, designed to incorporate these programmes, is implemented in partnership with Teknopark İzmir and our Agency for entrepreneurs who need commercialisation and internationalisation support in the fields of renewable energy, information and communication technologies, green technologies and marine technologies.
As a continuation of the BEST For Energy (Boosting Effective and Sustainable Transformation for Energy) Project implemented by İzmir Development Agency (İZKA) in partnership with Energy Industrialists and Businessmen Association (ENSIA), we are organising thematic open innovation (ideathon) events to develop innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of clean energy and clean technologies.
The thematic open innovation (ideathon) events, which are organised in areas such as wind energy, solar energy, green hydrogen and sustainable urban design, are open to anyone who wants to present ideas in this field, especially university students.

There is a need for guidance on where companies should start the digital transformation process, which is a major paradigm shift. As one of the steps of the work carried out by our agency for the digital transformation of İzmir companies, the Digital Maturity Model was developed and published at digitalolgunluk.izka.org.tr, where companies can measure their competencies in the digitalisation process.
The most distinctive feature of the study is that it takes into account the national business culture and methods, is inclusive of all sectors, and facilitates the development of a strategic approach by providing the right information to companies on their digital transformation journey.
In line with the studies carried out in the fields of resource efficiency, industrial symbiosis and digital transformation with stakeholders in the region, we are conducting the İzmir Resource Efficiency Programme to cover the period 2021-2024.
As an output of the programme, the İzmir Resource Efficiency Centre, which is planned to be established by our Agency in the coming period, is planned to include a Digital Transformation Centre. In this context, it is aimed to match digital transformation service providers with companies in need of transformation and to guide the transformation processes.
