The work of the Izmirian scientist and collector, Prof. Dr. Yavuz Çorapçıoğlu, who won the Grand Gold Medal at exhibitions organized by the Turkish Philately Federation and the American Philatelic Society, and whose work was published in English under the title “From Smyrna to İzmir: Everyday Life” in 2019, has been translated into Turkish under the name “Smyrna’dan İzmir’e Günlük Yaşam” and published as the fifth book in our Agency’s Culture Publications İzmir History series.
Shedding light on various aspects of this period of İzmir, which became one of the largest trading ports in the Mediterranean during the 19th century and which grew in importance starting from the 17th century, this valuable work is accompanied by photographic and ephemeral material from Prof. Dr. Yavuz Çorapçıoğlu’s personal collection.
