İzmir Development Agency Projects Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony of the projects developed and supported by the İzmir Development Agency to mobilize İzmir’s local potential was held with the participation of the Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih KACIR.

In his opening speech, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR expressed that the projects inaugurated contribute concretely to the growth and development of İzmir. He stated that İzmir has become a production hub in the wind energy sector in Turkey in recent years with strides made in renewable energy. He highlighted that with the support of the İzmir Development Agency, the Wind Energy Meteorology and Environmental Testing and Analysis Center has been established, providing the sector with an internationally standardized testing and analysis center. Minister KACIR emphasized the significance of the İzmir Offshore Wind Measurement Mast project, stating, “We are collecting data throughout the year with the measurement mast we installed on Küçük Ada as part of the offshore wind test measurement project, which is being implemented for the first time in the offshore wind energy sector in our country. We contribute to making necessary modeling and investments for the development of the sector. We are one of the most ambitious five countries in Europe in this field, but our pace of development shows that Turkey will be the leading country in wind energy in Europe within the next 10 years, and İzmir will be the pioneering city in this leadership process.”
