International Award for Efeler Yolu Project

The Efeler Yolu Project, supported by Izmir Development Agency within the scope of Feasibility Support in 2018 and Küçük Menderes Basin Sustainable Development Financial Support Programme in 2019, was awarded in the “Culture and Tradition” category in the “Top 100 Stories” competition organised by the Green Destinations organisation.

With its “Top 100 Stories” selection, Green Destinations continues its efforts to introduce good practice examples for the future of tourism to the whole world and to inspire other tourism destinations. With this award, the value of Efeler Yolu will be introduced to the world, while at the same time contributing to the popularisation of sustainable tourism.

The Efeler Way, which connects villages, plateaus and important Efe beds that are important in terms of Efe/zeybek culture by using natural paths that are still preserved today, is a 500-kilometre multi-stage and marked walking path starting from Bornova district of Izmir, crossing the Nif Mountain and Bozdağ mountain ranges, returning to the plateaus of Kiraz and then ending in Selçuk district via Aydın mountain ranges.
