BESTMER Continues to Work on Biomass Energy at Full Speed

Established through the collaborative support of the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, Our Agency and Ege University Biomass Energy Systems and Technologies Application and Research Center (BESTMER) continues its studies on biomass energy at full speed.

The Ministry of Industry and Technology has appointed Development Agencies to conduct pre-feasibility studies for investment projects that will unlock the full potential, accelerate economic development, and promote production in their respective regions. Within this scope, our Agency has commenced studies on the preparation of a pre-feasibility report for the Establishment of a Biogas and Organic Fertilizer Facility in İzmir in cooperation with the Biomass Energy Systems and Technologies Application and Research Center (BESTMER).

As part of the agreement regarding “Preparation of a Pre-Feasibility Report for the Establishment of a Biogas and Organic Fertilizer Facility in İzmir” signed between our Agency and BESTMER, a meeting was held with the participation of Dr. Mehmet Yavuz, Secretary-General of our Agency, experts from the Green Growth Policies Unit and Investment Support Office, as well as Prof. Dr. Günnur Koçar, Director of BESTMER, and the BESTMER personnel.

The meeting focused on increasing the rate of domestic resource utilization in identifying İzmir’s biogas potential and implementation of biogas systems, its contribution to employment, potential future investment opportunities exclusive to İzmir, and its economic and environmental impact, along with an emphasis on possible new collaborations and the points that may necessitate contributions on biomass energy for İzmir.
